About Delores:

DeloresDelores grew up in Washington and Oregon but also spent many years in western Canada. Grade school teachers first encouraged her writing gifts. She appreciated their help and loves to pass it on by encouraging others. Delores earned college and graduate degrees assisted by scholarships. For many summers she worked for the Forest Service in both the U.S. and Canada. She enjoys wild life, makes porcupine quill jewelry, and gives convincing moose calls. Her home is now in Minnesota.

Today Delores is a teacher, speaker, freelance writer, editor and publisher with over 220 publications. Her writings are found in Aglow, Angels on Earth, (The Christian Reader) Today’s Christian, Family Life Today, Prayer Journal, the Journal of English Linguistics, the Tamarack, the Minnesota Christian Chronicle, various newsletters, compilation books, her three children’s books (see Books tab), and more. She is completing her second novel.

Current President of the 130-member Minnesota Christian Writers Guild, she previously served as their Publications Secretary for four years, and Seminar Director for two. She teaches at Northwestern College, St. Paul, and conducts classes and seminars for churches and various groups. She operates Creative Design Services, a consulting entrepreneurial business providing editing and ghostwriting skills for those preparing their own materials for publication. In addition she has founded TrueNorth Publishing: A Friend to Writers, and is pleased with the quality of books she has helped others publish these last few years.

Besides writing and teaching, Delores loves speaking and traveling. In 1980, she spent over 3 months assisting missions in Colombia, South America. In 2008, she spent 3 weeks in the Philippines on a mission trip, and again in 2010, including time in South Korea. She will also go to the Philippines in 2011. She has been privileged to speak and teach in Europe on numerous trips and in 2010 led her 5th group to Israel.

Her two sons are local physicians and she has five grandchildren, and a grandpuppy.

Books: Besides her popular true 2007 children’s book, Whoosh, her rhymed beautifully illustrated children's adventure, Little Big Chief: The Bear Hunt, appeared in 2009. It’s rhymed stand-alone sequel, Little Chief and Ogopogo, is based on a frequently-observed North American creature with more eye-witness accounts than the Loch Ness monster. Using God's authority, Little Chief tames his enemy in ways that will surprise you. (Check Google for actual Ogopogo photos and videos,) Contact Delores for more information or to order signed copies. She has entered the world of Christian novel writing and is completing her second.

Read-aloud CD recordings of Delores’s two last children’s books are available.
Other publications: Articles, newsletters, books, poems, songs, curriculum, videos, seminars, etc., total 220 through 2011, including 57 articles in the Minnesota Christian Chronicle currently.
